Stroger gives on hospitals: Cook board president supports a shift to independant oversight

Stroger Hospital and other facilities would be run by a new seven-member authority under a proposal President Todd Stroger is considering.

Cook County Board President Todd Stroger is ready to give up control of Cook County hospitals, a wellspring of the political power his family amassed over the past two decades.
